Every time you open For You, X builds a new page. Nothing is waiting for you in a drawer.

How it works

Think of Home Mixer as the conductor. It does not keep your timeline. It asks around, then assembles about 35 real posts — up to 47 once ads and extra cards are added.

First it fetches what you recently did, who you follow, who you muted or blocked. Then it asks three places at once: people you follow, and two discovery nets for people you don’t. It throws out what cannot be shown. It scores what remains. It keeps the top 50, then 35 after safety.

Only then do ads and “who to follow” arrive. They were never in the scoring.

If you just refreshed, it may still have 500 leftover scored posts from a minute ago. That is why a fast scroll sometimes feels like the same hunt, not a new one.

And if you turned recommendations off, discovery stays quiet. You still see a For You shell. You only see people you follow.

• Being picked in that first look. If nothing finds you, you are never scored.
• Still being under 48 hours. Older posts are gone before the model runs.
• Landing in those 35. That is the only set that gets mixed onto the page. </aside>

• Already shown. What you just saw will not come back on the next refresh.
